On 28th August 2020, the Government of Japan announced that all foreign nationals with the status of residence who have left and will leave Japan before 31st August 2020 with a valid re-entry permit, are now eligible to re-enter Japan from 1st September 2020.
As for the foreign nationals with the status of residence currently residing in Japan and will depart from Japan on and after 1st September, it is allowed to re-enter Japan as long as they request their re-entry and obtain its receipt before leaving Japan.

For Japan’s foreign residents who will leave Japan from September 7th; please request your re-entry to the immigration by email.

2020年8月28日、日本国政府は、8月31日までに再入国許可（みなし再入国許可を含む）をもって出国した在留資格保持者で所定の手続を経た者に対し、出国日に拘わらず、9月1日（本邦到着分）以降の再入国を認めることを決定しました。加えて、現在、日本に在留し、9月1日以降に出国予定の在留資格保持者の再入国についても、事前の再入国許可と受理書を交付し簡易に帰国できるようにしました。。
